Today I received an offer from a digital agency-- they do a lot of work with the web and their client base seems to be theater (on and off Broadway) and general entertainment. I haven't seen much of their office other than the reception and the conference room but if those are any indication, it's a nice place to be! It's also high up in the building and you can feel the air pressure change. They have the entire floor to themselves and it's not shady looking!
I have a lot of stories about different places I've been to for interviews. This one particular place was really shady -- in that it looked like a janitor's closet and I passed it by, thinking it was. There was no room number on the door! My interview had 3 interns (?) sitting in because there were only two rooms in the place! Shady right? Bring your own laptop, no stipend at all and unpaid! No thank you. Sad thing was that they're actually pretty well-known in a very particular industry.
Anyway...
I didn't hold my breath for the digital agency after the interview. You can never tell. I must have been first pickings though because I received the offer FOUR days afterward! Nice right? I wonder what it was that made them choose me!
Just think, yesterday night I was getting frustrated. I had my 15th interview since graduating and I didn't know if I would have at LEAST an internship for the summer, and yes, I was getting THAT much closer to applying for administrative jobs and giving up pursuing a creative career.
This digital agency should be good because I don't have much web design experience. Perhaps this will include mobile apps, tablets? This could be the place that really helps round me out i. I already have marketing and a little bit of publishing. I almost feel like I'm going backwards because I'm just seemingly going for internships, but I don't have much choice. And hey, it might be better I'm going around to different places in internships because I get to see how these places work, and can be more fresh than if I was offered a job straight from graduating-- and stayed there for 20 years.
I also picked up a lot of extra copies of a piece of work I did-- today was a good day
